WS -2    "Carboxytherapy"

Chair: I. Ritina (Riga, Latvia)

Carboxytherapy is a percutaneous application or subcutaneous injection of carbon dioxide gas for therapeutic purposes. Carbon dioxide in the tissue reacts with molecules of water, generating molecular carbonic acid, which reduces pH of the tissue. Based on the Bohr`s effect the oxygen released from hemoglobin increases, at pH 6.8 and less permeability of capillary wall increases. Diatomic calcium ions reduction and dissociation of carbonic acid to H+ and HCO3- generates Ca(HCO3)2, also NaHCO3 and KHCO3, pH changes to basic and leads to antalgic and spasmolytic effect. The purpose of Carboxytherapy is to improve or restore microcirculation function when damaged. The final effect is that of a rehabilitation therapy for microcirculation. Indications for carboxytherapy in dermatology: psoriasis, androgenic alopecia, skin ulcers. Participants of the workshop will be able to learn and practice carboxytherapy.

Fee - 40 EUR

WS-3        "Disaster Dermatology"

Chair: O. Litus (Kiev, Ukraine)

In recent decades there has been a significant increase in the number of natural, technological and social disasters, and there is a clear tendency to its further increasing. With the increasing number of armed conflicts, high level of terrorist threats and forced migration of the population, there is an urgent need for coordination and provision of emergency medical care at different stages, and in extreme conditions, in particular. Experience in providing dermatovenereological assistance to the population and military forces in the military conflict zone will be shared. We propose to call this complex of methods and technologies for providing dermatovenereological care as “Disaster Dermatology”, by analogy with disaster medicine.
